G7 Summit
We hope that discussions will be held this weekend on Climate change as it is creating new challenges for people all over the world and it is hitting vulnerable farmers in remote areas particularly hard. Farming is already tough 75% of the world’s poorest people are farmers. Climate Change is making it even more challenging. Farming in rural Nepal has always been difficult because of the mountainous terrain. In a good year, farmers would have grown enough to eat and sell at market. Now, because of the devastating impact of climate change, life is even tougher. Weather patterns are becoming more extreme. Torrential seasonal rain causes devastating floods. In the dry seasons, water runs dangerously short. Crops are failing. COVID19 restrictions have made getting hold of vital farming supplies even more difficult in remote areas.
